We were commissioned to design, manufacture and install a main feature staircase for this new leisure centre, known as the Amenities Building at Granta Park in Cambridge. The centre provides the science, technology and Biopharmaceutical Park with a central and accessible leisure facility for its clients and staff.
The challenged that faced us was to create a spacious environment whilst abiding by the structural and building control regulations.
Working with Main Contractor VINCI Construction UK, the new facility will consisted of a gym space, a 25-metre pool and a number of studios. We designed a 4-meter wide feature staircase with 22 threads bolted to the main structure complete with half landing, 19.5mm laminated glass and oak handrails. In addition we supplied and installed exterior balustrades in vertical bar form.
