Our brief for this project was to design, fabricate, finish and install security fencing and auxiliary fabricated items for the Thorn Turn development for Central Bedfordshire Council.
The area, which is located between the A5 just south of Chalk Hill and Thorn Road that runs from the A5-M1 link road to the A5120, has been turned into a new multi-use site that includes a new household waste recycling centre and a highways depot.
The development also includes a trade waste service and a salt barn for storing the salt used on roads in the winter.

The key challenge for this project was to build a new facility that was in keeping with the environment, practically fit for purpose, secure and low maintenance.
We met the design brief on time and within budget as our remit was to offer best value products that were practically fit for purpose, sustainable to the given environment and commercially feasible. The solution was to offer galvanised steel and treated timber products with a minimum life guarantee of 15 years. Work consisted of:
